Can You Add Privacy To Your Fence If You Have Chain Link?

Do you currently have a chain link fence around your commercial property, but wish you could have some more privacy? If so, you may think that you need to tear down that chain link fence and install a different material. You actually have quite a few options for adding privacy that can keep the chain link fence in place.

Vinyl Slats

The easiest way to add privacy to any chain link fence is with vinyl slats. These long pieces of vinyl are pieces that you thread through the chain link by going over and under the individual links. The end result is that it creates a barrier over the fencing so that others cannot easily see in. It won't be completely solid like a solid panel vinyl fence, but it can be quite effective at providing privacy if that is what you are looking for.

Vinyl slats are manufactured in a variety of styles and colors, so you will sure to find one that works with your commercial property. Vinyl slats are also capable of being a permanent solution to add privacy, and will be able to withstand various weather conditions that will affect the material.

Windscreens

A windscreen is attached to a chain link fence, and is essentially a large tarp that covers the material. There are holes in the fence that do allow the wind to pass through, which prevent the windscreen from being completely ripped off the fence due to strong winds. Those holes can compromise your privacy slightly, but overall, the windscreens should be effective enough at doing the job you want them to accomplish.

Plants

There are a couple ways that you can use living plants as a way to add privacy to chain link fencing. The first way will be to have vines placed on the fence that weave their way through the metal material and cover the holes that people can see through. You will want a perennial plant that will maintain the vines throughout the entire year, so make sure to pick something that works well with the climate you are located in.

You can also accomplish a similar effect by placing large shrubs next to the fence. As long as it is an evergreen shrub, it will provide privacy all year long. You can install it on either the inside or outside part of the fence to achieve the effect that you want.
